  what is evil?.

  who defines what is truly evil?.

  if someone lived a trillion x longer than you, and had a billion x more reasoning ability would he come to the same conclusions as you?.

  Rebellion against the order established by God.
  Who defines what is truly Evil?
  God, by the very definition thereof, is the only one who can see the 'big picture'. He establishes the absolute even though it may look to us as if it is arbitrary.

  The most violently insane acts in the Bible.

  the bible contains accounts of some horrendously voilent happenings.. some more graphic then many modern films.. this disturbs many when they first read those accounts.. heres one that stood out to me when i first read it.. 1 samuel 15:33 "with that samuel went hacking a'gag to pieces before jehovah in gil'gal".

  it wasn't enough just to kill him but samuel hacked him to pieces in front of a large crowd of people.. i wouldn't want to get into a tangle with samuel if he got out of the wrong side of bed that morning.

  Someone in your family (or someone close to you) has become born-again, right Seeker? That's the reason for your continuing obsession and it will probably stun you that I know that.
  Does it bother you that intelligent, thinking individuals accept the call of God on both faith and historical truths? By your philosophy, NONE if that caliber should accept God.

  Key = disbelief in Christianity.
  You just can't stand to see anyone take a stand! You can only associate that with Watchtowerism and that is your achilles heel. Have you taken to reading my oft-recommended books or are you still just reinforcing your own world-view?

  The gender uses in scripture denote lignuistics, not the sex of the person in question. LOL
  Elohim is used in emphasis of deity and not in numeration. Hebrew is largely tanslated by context, something that JWs and atheists like to ignore when convenient. The plural use in Genesis 1.26 IS an early indication that God is more than one person (1.27 then reiterates the ONE God). The apostle John uses John 1.1 to teach the multiple persons inherent in God and Genesis 1.1 reveals the third person who was present in the Beginning!
  I don't blame you for being confused. "Preachers" like Kenneth Copeland are notoriously heretical in their theology!

  Why do you people keep 'missing the boat' on this alleged problem of pagans having good, Biblical ideas? If, as the Bible contends, all religion goes back to worship of the one, true God (surprisingly to some, most ancient religions begin with 'one god' then spin off into polytheism) and we all have God-given consciences (as Paul points out in his theological treatise in Romans) then why would Christianity NOT have inherent similarities to paganism?
  Zoaraster certainly had some Biblical ideas, the Magi who came to visit the infant Jesus were observant of Daniel's prophecies and other scripture. They were from the land of Persia and their forebearers served with Daniel in the Babylonian court.
  When are all of the Bible doubters going to realize that practically every objection they have can be turned back on them? It all depends on your world-view, so your 'problem' is actually a 'proof'!

  Hey Mindchild,
  Do you know that the 'collection plate' purpose is dual: give if you can, take if you need? The great majority of people are too proud to take, so we have 'love offerings' (you don't have to be a member of the church!) when people make specific requests and this is encouraged. We don't want people having to go to secular organisations when we can fill the need. None of that "go and be prosperous brother and we hope all is well with you" as you patently ignore their need.

  Do you know one of the big reasons the WBTS is so FUBAR? They appoint idiots to positions based on their loyalty and not their talents. You know that from Randy's stories about Bethel and other tales of woe. If they had an entertainment ministry, some nincompoop with good service time would lead it and the entertainers would flop. Imagine, an organisation that has practically prohibited piano players at meetings, actually using someone with talent.
  Why don't you walk in on a local church there in S.D. which has a real worship service, pentecostals and baptists seem to be very good at this. Check out some church where they don't seem too worried about the 'image'.
